A sad day in Orange County...
Today we lost someone very close to all of us. Dane Williams. We have been flooding myspace and the streets of OC and San Diego with flyers, pictures, anything we could to let people know he had disappeared. We had hope, we prayed...wanting so bad just to see him one more time. Today we found out that Dane's body was found in San Diego, we cannot release anymore information at this time and the police are involved.
It really hit me today in that meeting of about 100 people...there were tears, and silence...i remember writing a blog at the beginning of the month, and it hit me like a ton of bricks while driving home crying a few minutes ago. He was a great guy, had massive amounts of passion for Hurley...he was quiet but always willing to help out. Last week we went to a show and I talked to him about work for a bit, just small talk after the show...seeing all of the support on myspace from friends, and strangers...it is crazy to know how much one person could be known by alot of people, how much we all care when someone is in danger...it physically hurts our hearts. My desire, more than anything right now is to take the feelings I had and put that same feeling and energy into my relationships and friendships. It's a tragedy what happened to our friend Dane, but it really puts things into perspective when we lose someone close to us...we are all closer, we want to make things right with people...i hope we can do that without losing our friends.
please pray for the Williams family as they deal with the loss of their son.
Steph

BREAKING NEWS:
Hurley employee missing in San Diego
Dane Williams, who works in marketing department for Costa Mesa company, last seen Saturday morning; colleagues in San Diego today leading search.
By Michael Miller
An employee for Hurley International, the world-famous clothing company headquartered in Costa Mesa, has been missing since early Saturday morning.
Dane Williams, 23, was last seen by colleagues about 1:30 a.m. Saturday after attending a trade show at the Marriott hotel in downtown San Diego. The San Diego Police Department is searching for information on his whereabouts, while more than a dozen Hurley employees drove down to San Diego this morning to post fliers about Williams’ disappearance.
Joe McElroy, the director of global branding for Hurley, said Williams had worked for the company for about three months. He described the Huntington Beach resident as a hard worker who was strongly devoted to his family and friends and not the type to disappear without notice.
“He’s really family-oriented, still lives at home,” McElroy said. “This is just totally not normal.”
The Hurley headquarters in Costa Mesa remained open as usual Tuesday morning, but staff members there declined comment on Williams.
