Sometimes i cry...sometimes.

Tonight was the candlelight vigil on the beach....where Dane spent many days and nights laying in the sand, it was held in that exact spot. there were many stories told, good laughs, and many tears. We all miss his so much, but he knew Jesus...so he is in a better place, but that doesn't stop the hurt inside each of his family and friends. Sadly, the autopsy today came but "inconclusive"...they just don't know what happened, and that's all anyone can offer. Please continue to pray for the family and friends and please...take a moment to tell your parents and loved ones how much they mean to you, and an extra hug...you just never know.

Steph

Phaketography...

THE TOPIC:
Photography:...the facts.

1. It's a hobby for me. I don't consider it work...the second anything becomes work I hate it.
2. I don't enjoy taking photos that are overly posed, they aren't fun...
3. I don't believe in taking a bad photo...i only take one person's opinion to heart, they know who they are.
4. Don't be fake during a photoshoot or anytime for that matter, it's dumb...and the pictures turn out eh.
5. I shoot with minimal equipment. Partly by choice...no really, it's kinda fun holding every piece of camera equipment i own in one hand (that's what she said)-for daniel.
6. I could play on photoshop all day and night.
7. I try to catch shots in between poses.
8. When I look at a photo I want it to suck me in and make me think OR look at a photo and be right there in the moment...like I was actually there during the shoot. If it's anything else I get bored.
9. I don't have a favourite photographer. People who aren't photographers inspire me more than people who are.
10. I take pictures with my eyes all the times.

A sad day in Orange County...

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Today we lost someone very close to all of us. Dane Williams. We have been flooding myspace and the streets of OC and San Diego with flyers, pictures, anything we could to let people know he had disappeared. We had hope, we prayed...wanting so bad just to see him one more time. Today we found out that Dane's body was found in San Diego, we cannot release anymore information at this time and the police are involved.

It really hit me today in that meeting of about 100 people...there were tears, and silence...i remember writing a blog at the beginning of the month, and it hit me like a ton of bricks while driving home crying a few minutes ago. He was a great guy, had massive amounts of passion for Hurley...he was quiet but always willing to help out. Last week we went to a show and I talked to him about work for a bit, just small talk after the show...seeing all of the support on myspace from friends, and strangers...it is crazy to know how much one person could be known by alot of people, how much we all care when someone is in danger...it physically hurts our hearts. My desire, more than anything right now is to take the feelings I had and put that same feeling and energy into my relationships and friendships. It's a tragedy what happened to our friend Dane, but it really puts things into perspective when we lose someone close to us...we are all closer, we want to make things right with people...i hope we can do that without losing our friends.

please pray for the Williams family as they deal with the loss of their son.
Steph

If you don't know what's been going on with Dane's disappearance, see below.

BREAKING NEWS:
Hurley employee missing in San Diego
Dane Williams, who works in marketing department for Costa Mesa company, last seen Saturday morning; colleagues in San Diego today leading search.

By Michael Miller

An employee for Hurley International, the world-famous clothing company headquartered in Costa Mesa, has been missing since early Saturday morning.

Dane Williams, 23, was last seen by colleagues about 1:30 a.m. Saturday after attending a trade show at the Marriott hotel in downtown San Diego. The San Diego Police Department is searching for information on his whereabouts, while more than a dozen Hurley employees drove down to San Diego this morning to post fliers about Williams’ disappearance.

Joe McElroy, the director of global branding for Hurley, said Williams had worked for the company for about three months. He described the Huntington Beach resident as a hard worker who was strongly devoted to his family and friends and not the type to disappear without notice.

“He’s really family-oriented, still lives at home,” McElroy said. “This is just totally not normal.”

The Hurley headquarters in Costa Mesa remained open as usual Tuesday morning, but staff members there declined comment on Williams.

By eating at Sushi Bars across the nation...here is a list of 5 things i did at said sushi bar.

1. celebrate daniel.
2. take picture with the magic towel
3. sit next to a drunk asian man
4. talk to daniel about the local laundromat having a play area for children.
5. think about how much i enjoy lists and those who make them.

PS: Just got back from seeing Untraceable...i give it 1 thumb up with a pinky finger...it kept me entertained. Plus Diane Lane is awesome and i always wanted to be in the CIA/FBI. I also wanted to be in broadway shows, so whatever. Goodnight. Oh and another bit of information, it is time to completely redo...www.ImSteph.com it started out as a class project and then i kinda forgot about it, I need my website to reflect the distinguished professional that i am (i joke, i kid. obviii)

Tom & chairs vs. Michael Lallande...

Michael gets pissed when Tom rams him with chairs while on an important business call. He shoves him away. He then raises his hand to shut him up...it does not work. Tom then kicks him...and rams him yet again. After ending his phone call he complains of "whip lash"...probably the best thing ever.

Good morning friends!
You can see why my work day is so entertaining (see above). It's time for the weekend...it's time to drive with a bunch of guys to San Diego. We have ASR at the convention center, a party for some clients tonight and also a fashion show tomorrow night at House of Blues. I will be taking my computer and hopefully will be able to get a good vid blog out of it, or at least pictures. including more people in my vid blog is more entertaining, for myself. sorry...i eat my food like a chipmunk...i store it for the winter in my cheek and keep taking bites, it's horrible but i've done it since i was little. We were purposefully being disgusting by talking with our mouths fool, deal with it.

Till the cows come home...

What do sayings like this mean, "Till the cows come home"...a coworker just yelled that out as i was searching the corners of my brain for a blog title. I love phrases. Here is a not so entertaining vid blog from the "Staniel"...my best buddy Daniel and I at work at 7pm, talking about our day. It was a rainy day in orange county...i look forward to going home and packing for San Diego, putting on some warm clothes, and sitting by the fire. I shot Covette's promo shots today...i will show you a few. The last one is their promo shot for posters and album. Enjoy friends!

1.20.2008

And now, for something completely different...

After reading the Sunday comic section of the Orange County Register (and the political section haha...equally as funny) I came up with a grand idea. Like I really have time for another thing...BUT i know i'll do it at least 2-3 times. I am going to make little comics of funny conversations between mean and my friends or funny thoughts that pop into my head while writing/talking to a friend...i will then scan the small sketch for you to enjoy. Some friends with be named, some names will be changed to protect the innocent. mwahaha. Look forward to those, SOON

Side Note: conversation between random myspace friend and myself...i love people. I am fully aware that my myspace picture is long...i did it specifically to piss random strangers off. it works. he's a comedian, hopefully he senses the sarcasm.

Anything for a good laugh...

Happy Sunday friends!!
What a day to be home eating chili and cheese! mmm. I stayed up til 4am and I am exhausted. But here is a small taste of some of the Beat Unions pics from yesterday. And a random video. I'm making the blogs shorter these days, because of my busy shhhedule

from Studio 108...

It's 8pm and I thought I would write a quick blog from the studio, we are on a dinner break....and were messing around with the guys from Beat Union. Enjoy the video, and the pictures. The music video so far is insane, a table with shards of glass and beer got turned over on me. Crrrazy. I'll keep you posted on the music video and the photos. We have been here since 10am and we are delirious. too much caffeine and nicotine.

a day in steph's mind...

welcome. you are about to spend a day in the mind of Steph...you will see what random thoughts pop into my head throughout the period of one day. I will not explain, just simply list...in no particular order:

1. "hm, i wonder whose job it is to put adhesive on the bottoms of each reflector on the streets and freeways. I wonder what company invented those, they are very well off."

2. "hmm...why does 'Zzzzzz' mean sleeping in cartoons or comic books?"

3. "oooh the shiny water dots on my arm would make an awesome painting or picture" (said while in the shower when the sunlight was hitting my arm)

4. "soaking wet guys and broken televisions/radios, sledge hammers...and electricity=fun photoshoot" (Happens wednesdays, band: Covette)

5. "i wonder how many ridges are on a dime..."

6. why do red roses smell way better than other colors?

7. "hmm i have a white bruise on the center of my fingernail...i wonder if i took a poll with my closest friends of how long it would take till it grew all the way to the tip...how long it would take?"

today was a really busy day, i didn't have much time to think or dwell on things, or stare off into space.

good day friends.

"Shape Matters..."

KT TUNSTALL'S MYSPACE

The guys from the Beat Union and I just piled into my car to run out on the town for a few hours...grabbed lunch, got a bed installed in their new van for their tour coming up and of course, coffee. Davey (the lead singer) suggested we listen to KT Tunstall's new album, he's a huge fan of her new album. We then picked up some fruit snacks shaped like tiny legos, they are precious. All fruit treats taste exactly the same...no matter what size, but it's the shape that matters. It's the shape that makes it fun. In all of my years of research i have found that my ultimate favourite is shark fruit snacks because some bags have a great white shark in them, and honestly...it tastes way better.

Top 5 things I am really excited about:

1. this new movie coming out on the 25th, called Untraceable...look it up!
2. Hurley Fall 2008 Fashion Show party Monday night.
3. having the bands that I have shot sign my prints and frame them for my office
4. getting new camera equipment today/tomorrow
5. rachael yamagatas new CD...gosh where are you?!

We're dancing in our sleep...

"Where do all the lonely people meet...we're dancin' in our sleep!" -Beat Union

visit their myspace

The boys are back in the studio at Hurley and we are so excited to have them back until Monday:) I get to shoot their photos this weekend, it's going to be a good time. I am listening to their new album right now...it is INCREDIBLE!

So new year's resoultions...i rarely make them, because i fail miserably. But here are a few things that i plan on doing...not only for 2008 but for life. Enjoy.

1. Money
- Make Coffee @ Home prior to work...have starbucks once a week during the day, and once at night.
- Go out only on the weekends for dinner/dancing/movies...during the weeks stay home and study, read and play music.
- Make a calendar on google to keep track of the money I spent daily and the things i spent it on (that way it's in one place).
- take lunches to work and go out to lunch with the guys only 1 day a week.
- only spend money at the Hurley Employee store once a month for $100
- pay $100 more every month on my car so I can pay it off faster.

2. Health
- Jog in the evenings when I get home from work (at least 2-3 times a week)
- Speed bag in the evenings

3. Brain Health:
- Lynda.com all day once a week at work.
- Read books at night before bed.
- Download podcasts (political podcasts/news)
- Read the bible more (a chapter every night), and part of a study book. Listen to RH podcasts, church on Sundays.

4. Work/Side Projects:
- sell online
- advertise my services more on myspace.
- print more pictures and frame (display at my office/sell)
- make stickers/buttons for my website and myspace

i really feel like this is going to a GREAT year...it's amazing so far, good quote of the day:

“The greatest danger for most of us, is not that we reach too high and fall short...It is that we reach too low, and we achieve our dream.” -Michelangelo

Shout to AmanDUHH and Ash...the only people who read my words. :) <3

What would someone find on the walls in your room?
a bunch of framed photography, paintings and designs.

What is something a lot of people don’t know about you?
i will go out of my way to step on a crunchy leaf...always.

Would you kiss a hot stranger that you just met?
hahaha. doubt it.

Do long distance relationships work?
yes. depends on the people involved, but my answer is...yes. Trust/effort/and security are huge factors that i think can make or break a long distance relationship.

How do you like your eggs?
fried or scrambled (without the yolk...i hate yolk, even the word yolk and the fact that it has an L in it creeps me out).

Do you believe in astrology?
i like stars...when i can see them beyond the smog, and i study them but in like a "hmm, i love stars" kinda way rather than, "hmm oh star, tell me all things about life".

Pick a lyric that comes to your mind first:
"Didn't have a camera by my side this time...hopin' i would see the world thru both of my eyes. Maybe I will tell you all about it when i'm in the mood to lose my way with words."

blackberry or boysenberry (no seeeeds)

Can you play pool?
i play billiards, in a bow-tie.

Have any current problems with anyone you know?
i don't have beef with anyone, life's too short. although i am sure some people could wish death upon me on a regular basis. i don't like tension and would like to say i don't have enemies, but i am sure they are out there somewhere ready to kick my shin.

Tell another random fact about you:
i let my cousin cut off all of my eye lashes when i was 3 with safety scissors.

Ever attend a theme party?
i've attended and thrown. the best rad hat/moustache party ever...and 2 Pirate Parties.

Walls we couldn't move came crashing down...

Hi friends...If you haven't heard of a musician named Phil Wickham please go find his music immediately @ www.myspace.com/philwickham

I am excited. I am tired. I am all things good, right now. I can't complain. On top of that, my right leg is bouncing up and down as it usually does when I am working at my desk...it's a good sign, it means i have feeling in my legs, i have bones, ligaments and muscles...like i've said before, we take things for granted. DON'T. This weekend was spent in Los Angeles and in San Diego WORKING...but fun working. Some of you may not know what this is, it is when one enjoys their job so much that they decide to go on the weekends to shoot behind the scene footage of 2 music videos. I am worn out BUT, whoever you are...the one or two people that read this, get a sneak peak and some of the pics I took. They aren't being released to the public until the album release in a couple of months. I won't post them on myspace til i get it all cleared through the record label. See the photos at the end of the blog.

So I have some goals, not necessarily for 2008 but for life in general (those will come in the next blog). I have found myself wanting more and more time to myself, but that is almost impossible with my crammed schedule BUT the times I do get to spend in my room I enjoy reading, alot. here are a few thoughts that i read, thought about, and now i think you should think about these thoughts as well. hmm. things that make you go, hm.

"I think there are generally 3 things that people can do with a concept they don't understand: ignore it, fear it, or learn about it"

Obviously, the third alternative is the only productive choice and the only one that will lead to true understanding.

IGNORE: Ignored feelings or thoughts have to go somewhere, perhaps to the deep recesses of the sub conscience. They do not go away. Overt time these repressed feelings build up and then when the time does come to face the issue, the people who have previously ignored it are completely uneducated and unprepared to deal with it. Ignorance prevents them from being able to decipher their true feelings because they have denied themselves the opportunity to process any kind of personal opinion. They then become easily influence by what they have heard in passing, or by what others have told them or preached to them. Rather than self-educate, think and form their own opinion, their ignorance allows other to teach them an opinion.

FEAR: Fear is blinding. It grows wildly until it becomes so large it takes on qualities of its own and preempts any further attempts at reason.

LEARN: Education is the only thing that leads to understanding and acceptance. Experience is the best form of learning.

Chew on that for awhile. We need to always form our own opinions and be willing to learn and listen. That is from an amazing book, if you are interested in finding out which, just ask. Well that's it for me tonight. Goodnight! :)

AND NOW...Greeley Estates: (I am shooting a band called Beat Union this weekend, stay tuned for some sneak peaks of that as well!)

I'm living for the moment...

...but my moment's getting bigger by and by.

I am sitting here in a hoodie and ugg boots, eating "strawberry delight" a delicious dessert that makes the day go faster. In looking around at my friends, it got me thinking...what are the things we look for in people, what draws me to them? i came up with this list in no particular order. What draws you to people?

PEOPLE....

1. who wear stripes at any point

2. who can make me laugh more than i make myself laugh.

3. with strong passion for something, anything really.

4. who put others first.

5. who can bust a move with me.

6. who are musicians.

7. who are artists.

8. who love god.

9. who tell good stories.

10. who get sentimental over sounds and smells.

11. who enjoy romance.

12. who crave the little things in life.

13. who describe things in great detail.

14. who make me want to learn more.

15. who will go to concerts with me.

16. who can put up with me.

17. who travel the world.

18. who take amazing photographs.

19. who are close to their family.

20. who make me feel safe.

PS: this weekend I am shooting a band called Greeley Estates and Beat Union...we are shooting their music video and grabbing some sweet photos.

"that's what she said"

is the most commonly used phrase in our office. It's inappropriate but we laugh each and every time. Oh, did i mention I work with mostly guys...it's quite entertaining. From time to time we will have air soft wars (which are guns...that might as well feel like a real bullet is piercing your flesh) i got hit once in the inner thigh and had a bruise for weeks. I am so thankful for my job. Let me tell you, it's the greatest feeling to wake up every morning and feel excited to go into work. Everyday I get to do what I love.

And now...the Merica Group air soft wars. I'm the hostage with the clown nose.

The best part of waking up...

is Foldger's in your cup. I have found this to be the most true thing I have ever said. Do you ever read a word and find that it looks weird, or mispelled? Have you said it over and over again until it doesn't even sound like a word, and you can't even remember it being apart of the enlish language. I did that with the word Foldger's...i know that's the saying on the coffee commerical, and i've smelled it many-a-time BUT...my brain never thinks about the word specifically.

Wow it's 2008 and I haven't written on here in 5 months. I have nothing clever to say "wow, how time flies"..."where have the month's gone"...i simply have forgotten about this blog. Until now. I understand, no one reads my blogs. So they are basically for me. I also realized how much i missed them...the mere satisfaction i get when i read what i liked a year ago...and how much of a huge nerd i still am.

things that i have come to realize over the last 5 months:

1. glasses make people way more interesting.

2. if you throw a hat on that person wearing glasses, i actually have to stop myself from wanting to go up and talk to them.

3. malibu pineapple orange....you can never have enough.

4. i love humans...all of them. they make my brain think, my heart hurt, my mouth smile, my head tilt back from laughter...every single one i come across intrigues me. i can't help it. i like to study them....their reactions, facial expressions...the way words form in their mouths after a thought is processed. I can see the entire thing in their eyes. I wonder, why they chose that night to wear their hair up or down...how much time was spend on their outfit, if guys think they look hotter when they wear tight jeans or baggy jeans, if a girl shaved her legs because she thought she was going to get some action, if that person drinks because they truly enjoy the taste of alcohol or because it's what you do at bars. Question is, why do we think so much about others...not even for approval, just the thought of someone thinking about us is enough to cause us to put a little more effort into our appearance or actions. WHY? i'll tell you why, because people like me stare at you, we study you, we enjoy sociology, we enjoy YOU and you enjoy us right back, we crave the entertainment, how you interact in groups...but don't you worry...although i do watch you, i am not thinking bad of you...just wondering, WHY? the most common word in my head when looking at someone and seeing their actions is probably the word (or sound) "hmmm". By all means, carry on with what you've been doing...i enjoy it. and I love you. You make the world a better place, and add a little spice to it.

5. Everyone is loved by AT LEAST one person. So why is suicide such a big issue? Maybe because we don't tell them or show them until their funeral. So many times I would love to know what the dead person is thinking in the casket...when people come by to "pay their respects"...probably something along the lines of..."wow, i wish they would've told me that when i was alive"..."i wish they would've told me how much they thought or me, or missed me". "Really, they thought I was a good person, I was a joy to others, and the life of the party?!" We don't tell people enough how important they are...we assume they know. When I am walking down the street (i rarely just walk down the street, but you get the point) and a stranger passes me, it makes me so happy when they smile at me, add an extra bounce in my step if you say hi. If my mom was to die tonight in her sleep...I would be able to write her a list, NO a novel of things that she was to me...that made her who she was to me, things i appreciate about her. why don't i sign off this stupid blog and go take her to coffee and tell her those things, or write her a list of those things NOW, while she's here? Because, i am lazy and she will be there tomorrow. WE TAKE THINGS FOR GRANTED, in a huge way...and we don't care. This needs to change.

6. I was informed that "Jack Knife in the quarter house...all i want to do is make you bounce" are NOT the correct words...i was told they are..."Jack Knife in the code of house"...but no, i was then told it was "Jack Knife in Dakotas House"...well i just looked it up people, and it's "Jack Knight and Dakoda House"...i have no clue who those two people are BUT they want to make you bounce.

7. I love politics. I hate politics. I enjoy getting to hear about our elections when i can (i don't watch any television) but i have vowed to start watching podcasts. I hate politics and church mixed together...when i was snowboarding in Mammoth last month i watched a documentary called "jesus camp"...i was left speechless. How adults were training up children to fight in spiritual warfare...3 year olds, in children's church...being told that jesus does not go into churches where people just sit in their seats quietly, he only shows up in places where people are jumping up and down. When kids church camps aren't fun anymore, and there aren't food fights...it catches my attention. instead when they pray for their breakfast the 6 year olds are praying to get righteous leaders in government and abortion clinics to close. Once again, it really made me think...who am I to judge if this is the right way to raise kids in church. I know how i was raised, how church was when i was young and how it is now....what a change. But when did that change start, i don't know. When do we we start learning things for ourselves instead of just assuming that people are right and taking what they say for face value...more than ever i have learned to dig deeper.

8. a 20 hour road trip in a van with 5 boys...is actually more bearable then traveling with 5 girls.

9. sex sells. imagine if girls today weren't the whores that they are...and we were actually feminists and stood up for ourselves. instead of burning our bras like they did back in the 60s we are ordering custom ones to hold our huge fake tits that will probably pop and sag in 30 years. yes, i said tits. (for you krys)

10. we always want something for free...we want music to be free, we don't buy it anymore we just steal it and it doesn't phase us (i do to, and i don't even feel bad)...i want a discount on a $200 watch, when i got it for free i was shocked but when we get to the point of expecting things to be free, yikes. blockbuster by my house shut down...why? because we steal movies and watch them on our ipods, yes...right now i have sleepless in seattle and sin city on my ipod, i did not purchase these. What's next...maybe fast food will be free soon, since it's so readily available...we are greedy.

my next blog, will be about the good in people. but for now, we are horrible and should focus on changing. hahah
goodnight. i am gonna go hand my mom a post-it with 5 things that i like about her written on it.
