life lesson #10...

before leaving home, always check your kids for stray fruit snacks wedged in random places.....

I wish there was a name for it....

Good morning friends!
It is a crisp, rainy morning in Costa Mesa, CA....I was already running a bit late for work but decided that on this day it was mandatory to have a London Fog and petite vanilla bean scone from SBux. I noticed that there was a drive thru starbucks and I figured I would try it...25 minutes later I was pulling away with a warm beverage and was even later for work but still...I was so content in that line, listening to Madeline Peyroux and excited about the upcoming weeks. I found myself smiling out the window tapping my Conversed foot. What's the word for that feeling that is inside of me right now...excitement does not do it justice. The kind where your heart so desperately wants to leap out of your chest and you can't help but take deep breaths every 5 minutes. I passed by my favourite area on my way to work...it's a road that passes by a park that overlooks most of Orange County and Long Beach...if I look to the right I see the ocean if I look to the left I see huge moutains...far away, but still close enough to get to in an hour road trip with a good roadtrip mix and coffee and some chains for the snow (well maybe several months ago). Then thinking about the scenery takes me to Ireland, and the movie PS: I love you (2 thumbs up). I've never been there but I can already picture what the photographs would look like... greenery all around, riding on a sheep with a scarf flapping in the wind and my face scrunched from laughter and happy tears. Laughter coming from behind the camera that echoes....it's probably the only thing I can hear because I've tuned everything else out. Gosh, what is the name for that feeling...? hmm...sentimentality perhaps? I think I got my portion and possibly an extra dose on the day that sentimentality was being distributed.

noodle disaster....

"there's spaghetti all in the pipes of our walls!!!" -brian grant

The sentence above is never something you want to hear your father shout out from underneath the kitchen sink. He was fixing our garbage disposal that we THOUGHT my grandfather fixed last week... But turns out he took out a mandatory piece. Why am I laughing quietly from the couch? Here are a few quotes from my dad...

"what?! and push spaghetti further into the walls of our house!?" he just said this to my mother after she had an idea of how to fix it.

"our toilets are going to fill with spaghetti"

"i just stuck my finger up there and that Is packed solid with spaghetti!"

"this is outrageous!" -lorrie grant

An entertaining night.
